
Announced as part of the [5.6.0 release in August](https://sourcegraph.com/blog/release/august-2024), the new search experience saw significant improvements in speed and simplicity, helping users search, navigate, and find answers about their codebase faster than ever.

Originally available as an opt-in for users, this new experience is now the default in 5.9.0, with the option to [opt out](https://sourcegraph.com/docs/code-search/features#search-experience) back to the old experience.
